Merrow Down Country Club is a fully developed, private and secure sectional title housing estate in Johannesburg, South Africa, offering a mature lifestyle for over 50's in a beautiful relaxed setting. Security

Well trained security officers are on duty 24-hours a day throughout the year to maintain a highly secure estate. The officers carry out regular patrols throughout MDCC and its outer perimeter. There are provisions for daily entry and exit for residents, regular visitors, employees and other callers. Merrow Down is in the process of installing a wireless panic button system throughout the estate which is connected to the Guardhouse. The MDCC security officers are trained in basic aspects of emergency care and will provide assistance as required. Netcare (082 911) or ER24 (084 124) will be summoned by the guards for serious medical situations.

Wellness Centre

The Wellness Centre is open mornings only during weekdays to provide services such as routine blood pressure checks, flu injections, dressing changes, etc. usually supported by doctor's instructions/prescriptions. The nursing sister will make house-calls, if required, and will advise residents about independent nurses/carers and other health care service providers such as podiatrists, audiologists, masseurs who may routinely provide services to MDCC residents. No bed-care services are available. The Wellness Centre focuses on preventative care and is not equipped to manage medical emergencies

Activities

Merrow Down has an extensive set of literary, exercise, & social activities including a library, a well-equipped gym, classes for Pilates, yoga, and stretching, line dancing, tennis, croquet, chess, arts classes, bridge, movie nights, quiz nights, bible studies, and gardening.

Guest Suites

Four beautifully appointed double guest rooms, all en suite, with fairly broad DSTV facilities, are available in the clubhouse at very affordable rates so that your new (perhaps smaller) home can "expand" when you need it to and provide extra accommodation for more than normal overnight visitors. Wi-Fi facilities are available in the clubhouse and in the guest suites. Availability and confirmation of breakfast requirements must be confirmed with the restaurant on the morning prior to the booking date.
